Ricardo Rodriguez was pleased with his assist and underlined the importance of last night’s win over Roma.
Patrick Cutrone scored in the very last second of the game to give Milan the 2-1 win against Roma at Stadio San Siro on Friday night, as the Rossoneri recorded their first win of the season.
The Diavolo got on the scoresheet first through Franck Kessié after 40 minutes, following a rare right-foot Ricardo Rodriguez assist, but nearly threw everything away again as Federico Fazio scored in the 59′ minute. However, in the end, Milan collected the points and they go into the international break with a smile on their face.
“It’s an important victory, we’re happy for it,” the Swiss left-back told Sky Italia at the end of the match yesterday. “We’ve worked a lot together, we deserved this win. We have to work. Also against Napoli we had a good game, we must not give up and we’ll see where we arrive.”
Speaking to MilanTV, RR said: “We wanted to win, it was important to us. We played a good game against Napoli too but we ended up losing. We deserved to win and this victory will definitely be a morale booster. We must continue to work this way. I’m happy about my assist. I would like to always make assists or score goals for the team. When I manage to do so I’m very happy.
“Higuain and Cutrone? We are strong up front, El Pipita is strong and Cutrone scored a great goal. Congratulations to them.” Gattuso chose to play with both players in a 4-4-2 formation at the end of the match after Rodriguez, Çalhanoğlu and Bonaventura were subbed out.
In the mixed-zone, the ex-Wolfsburg man stated: “In Naples we played a good game but we didn’t win. It was important to win on Friday, we did well for the entire 90 minutes. Now we must always do this. It’s nice that Kessié and Cutrone scored. It’s great to win the last minute, we did well, we worked well and we deserved to win. Laxalt? We had good players also last year, when you have competition it’s the coach who decides who plays and you have to always give your best.”
In addition to Laxalt and Rodriguez, there is also Ivan Strinić, who at the moment is forced to suspend sporting activity after being diagnosed with an initial hypertrophy of the cardiac muscle.
