Ricardo Rodriguez was pleased with his assist and underlined the importance of last night’s win over Roma.

Patrick Cutrone scored in the very last second of the game to give Milan the 2-1 win against Roma at Stadio San Siro on Friday night, as the Rossoneri recorded their first win of the season.

The Diavolo got on the scoresheet first through Franck Kessié after 40 minutes, following a rare right-foot Ricardo Rodriguez assist, but nearly threw everything away again as Federico Fazio scored in the 59′ minute. However, in the end, Milan collected the points and they go into the international break with a smile on their face.

“It’s an important victory, we’re happy for it,” the Swiss left-back told Sky Italia at the end of the match yesterday. “We’ve worked a lot together, we deserved this win. We have to work. Also against Napoli we had a good game, we must not give up and we’ll see where we arrive.”

Speaking to MilanTV, RR said: “We wanted to win, it was important to us. We played a good game against Napoli too but we ended up losing. We deserved to win and this victory will definitely be a morale booster. We must continue to work this way. I’m happy about my assist. I would like to always make assists or score goals for the team. When I manage to do so I’m very happy.

“Higuain and Cutrone? We are strong up front, El Pipita is strong and Cutrone scored a great goal. Congratulations to them.” Gattuso chose to play with both players in a 4-4-2 formation at the end of the match after Rodriguez, Çalhanoğlu and Bonaventura were subbed out.

In the mixed-zone, the ex-Wolfsburg man stated: “In Naples we played a good game but we didn’t win. It was important to win on Friday, we did well for the entire 90 minutes. Now we must always do this. It’s nice that Kessié and Cutrone scored. It’s great to win the last minute, we did well, we worked well and we deserved to win. Laxalt? We had good players also last year, when you have competition it’s the coach who decides who plays and you have to always give your best.”

In addition to Laxalt and Rodriguez, there is also Ivan Strinić, who at the moment is forced to suspend sporting activity after being diagnosed with an initial hypertrophy of the cardiac muscle.

  1. No, at Napoli, Milan did not have a good game. But at San Siro, yes. They abandoned those silly back-passing to the keeper over and over again.

  2. Keep it up RR, you’ve been great in the beginning of the season. Will be like a new signing if you keep it up like this 🙂

  3. First time I’ve seen Rodriguez play how he plays for Switzerland in terms of getting into the attack. Guessing gattuso gave him the “go ahead” to get forward more because he has never bombed forward as much as yesterday since he’s been at milan. Good game RR

  4. They played well, the only thing that kills milan these days is back passes, and coach should do something very fast to stop it from them, all we need now is full attack, I like the way laxalt push attack…… More of attack is needed now. Forza milan

  5. To me, Milan has a good start already cos winning against Roma at san siro and losing to Napoli at Naples a goal difference doesn’t sound too bad a.
    Observations:
    1. Milan needs to be ferocious in getting the ball back once the opponent has it
    2. Milan needs to play with more agility once they’re leading in games. They tend to be more than satisfied with a goal up and give opponent the advantage to take over the game
Dunno if I am the only one seeing Mussachio stronger and deffending well.

  6. Well, actually RR wanted to pass the ball to Higuain but because he was using his right foot, he missed it and sent the ball to far post. Fortunately Kessie was there
