Stefano Mazzoni has given the weekly update on the injured players, providing good news on all fronts.
After the Derby disappointment, Milan return to the pitch on Thursday to face AEK Athens at San Siro and it remains to be seen if Nikola Kalinić will return to the squad after missing Sunday’s match.
Team doctor Mazzoni spoke to MilanTV today to give the weekly update on the injured players, focusing on Kalinić, Luca Antonelli and Andrea Conti.
“How is Kalinić recovering? Well, he has completed his personalized training regime on the pitch,” he said to the club’s official TV station. “From today he will resume training with the rest of the squad and he will continue to train with the squad in the next days. So, these are good news.
“Antonelli? He had a calf injury but he has also resumed training on the pitch on a personalized regime, he will continue to follow a personalized training program this week and we are hoping to see him training alongside his teammates by the beginning of next week at the latest.
“Conti’s recovery is going very well? It has been a month since he underwent surgery [on his knee after ACL injury], a month and one day to be precise [smiles]. Let’s say it has been a month without any complications, everything is going smoothly, and we are all hoping he continues this way.”
Milan will continue to train tomorrow and then on Thursday they will try to get their third Group Stage victory and get closer to the next stage of the Europa League. On Sunday, they host Genoa.
