Hakan Çalhanoğlu admitted ‘I had forgotten about the first yellow card’ and thought Milan ‘played a really good game’ in the 2-0 defeat to Roma.

Milan lost their third match of the season, getting defeated at San Siro 2-0 by Eusebio Di Francesco’s Roma.

The Rossoneri had a relatively good match for 70 minutes, but afterwards they fell apart completely: Edin Dzeko (72′) and Alessandro Florenzi (77′) scored, while Hakan Çalhanoğlu got sent off (80′) and will miss the derby against Inter.

“We played a really good game, creating chances and attacking. I can’t remember Roma troubling us until the 70′ minute,” Hakan told MilanTV. “In the second half we tried to keep it up and we were in control of the game. Dzeko’s goal really struck us hard, it became almost impossible to score.

“Florenzi’s second tied it up but they were lucky. The attack? Everyone saw that we did everything we could to score, but they did well in defense. We have to work hard. I got sent off? I am really sorry for receiving the red card: there was a misunderstanding with Romagnoli and I had forgotten about the first yellow card. I am sorry to the fans, unfortunately I will miss the derby [after the break, 15/10].”

Giacomo Bonaventura will most likely take the spot of Çalhanoğlu, who was picked by La Gazzetta dello Sport as the Flop of the Match with a rating of 5/10 (overall team rating was 5.5/10).

  1. @Kaka22

Yes team lacks quality. Would you rather have Milinkovic-Savic, Nainggolan, Strootman or Kessie?
Would you have Pjanic, Hamsik, Felipe Anderson or the Free Kick Kid?
Would you rather have Dzeko, Dybala, Higuain, Belloti, Immobile, or Kalinic-Silva?

They are prospects (Except Kalinic-Borini), but hey do not have quality yet. So, yes, the team lacks quality. It is sad that I have to explain it to you.

    • Simple question, do we have more quality in our team than Lazio?

Now in the whole of seria a,we maybe have the best defense based on individual players and definitely better than Lazio.i dont need to say too much about that

Now I don’t know about you, but I and majority of people on here will rather have Biglia,Kessie,Locatelli,Bonaventura, Calhanoglu in their midfield than Lucas, parolo, marusic the only good ones there are milinkovic-savic and Felipe Anderson who has been injured for a long time, but they still find a way to win.

And comparing their attack with ours,I know I would rather have Andre Silva than Immobile who is just an average striker who has good supply, so yes based on individual players we have far more quality than Lazio.

And my last point, now majority of this players were requested by Montella, namely Musacchio,Bonucci,Kessie,Borini,Kalinic etc,so what’s your point when you say Fassobelli didn’t buy quality? They bought players requested by the coach.

So this is all on Montella, next time know where to point fingers, don’t point fingers to where’s convenient for you, attacking Fassobelli all the time because they once worked for inter. That’s not the way to go man.

      • Kaka22 forget Lazio (although, yes Immoble is currently better than Silva or Kalanic, and MS is better than our entire midfield ) and think Inter and Rome (not mentioning Juve and Napoli which is obvious). Heck, even Torino are better equipped in offense and on the wings.

And some people here are calling for a scudetto.

    • Ink, it’s so obvious I don’t know how very few see this. Our midfield and attack is subpar compared to our direct seria a opponents – simple as that.

Plus Europa league is really breaking our back. I don’t see anyone here mentioning this.

  2. In all sincerity i thought Milan was gonna walk away with a point at least yday. The boys did quite well.. Good pressure, good ball possession. Borini, RR, Silva and Musacchio were good. Too bad luck wasn’t on our side. I think we need to switch formation one more time to 4231. Romagnoli and Kessie’s performances have been below par. They need to watch the game from the bench. Abate, Musacchio, bonucci, RR, loca, biglia, suso, hakan, bona, Kalinic. We need to play with suso and bona for now at least.

  3. Borini is our best available RB (he played a decent game!) so with available players against Inter I would play 4-2-3-1:
an yes, we miss Kucka <3
Suso must play in his natural pos.

  4. Nice formation against inter. I think I agree with u for a switch to 4-2-3-1 formation, make Suso available to play with Bona, silva n kalinic. Great
