Marco Fassone enjoyed his debut match as the Chief Executive of Milan and said ‘clubs that win do so because there is cohesion between everyone’.
Fassone, accompanied by Han Li and new Milan owner and President Yonghong Li, was present at the Derby della Madonnina on Easter Saturday, that finished in a very dramatic fashion with a 97′-minute Cristian Zapata goal which made it 2-2 at the end of the match at San Siro.
“There could not have been no better debut. It was like a thriller with the 97′-minute goal or no goal,” Fassone told Milan TV.
“Yonghong Li? He was very excited in the locker room, partially moved. In the last days he took a bath in an incredible crowd which was unexpected for him, but he understood the reality of Italian football. Then a derby with a finish like this… you couldn’t ask for anything better.
“Vincenzo Montella [in whom Fassone confirmed the Chinese’s faith]? We met yesterday for the first time. The clubs that win do so because there is cohesion between everyone. We will try to build something beautiful. The group? The derby enhances everything. I saw a united group, peaceful and united. We hope that there are positive conditions in time to finish the season as best as possible.
“Today’s result was important, with this draw we leave Inter behind us. If the game finished two minutes earlier things would’ve been different, there could not have been a better ending.”
