Carlos Bacca was delighted to score twice against Chievo and insists he always felt the confidence of Montella.
Bacca is having a rather complicated season and it has become apparat that some fans have turned against him, while others still firmly stand behind the 30-year-old Colombian striker.
Last night’s match against Chievo basically summed up Bacca’s season so far as he missed several chances, including a penalty in the last moment of the first half, but also scored a brace to give the Rossoneri a 3-1 win over Rolando Maran’s side.
“I was going through a difficult time and not scoring goals, but everyone always let me feel their support,” Bacca said to Premium Sport at the end of the match at Stadio San Siro on Saturday evening. “I now scored two goals and I’m happy… I’m going to celebrate my wife’s birthday.
“It’s important to feel the fans, my teammates and the coach support me. I am happy, but have to work even harder. The next game is against Juventus away? We need to take it one game at a time, today we won a difficult match and from Sunday we’ll start thinking about Juventus.
“My future? I have always had faith in myself and when Galliani asked me to come to Milan, I didn’t think twice. I want to stay here. I dedicate these two goals to my wife and family.”
Speaking to Sky Italia, Bacca said: “The match? I dedicate it to my wife, to my family and to this shirt. I scored two goals and I’m happy but I have to work harder on everything. I’m a player who needs to give his best, everyone expects more from me. I work all week to get better and play better with my teammates. Against Chievo, I have everything, I have to keep working.”
“I am happy, for this match, for what I did on the pitch. I am working hard and I can feel the coach and fans believe in me,” Bacca said post-match in an interview with MilanTV. “This is important for me and I thank God for this beautiful moment. I work a lot with coach Nicola Caccia and this is helping me very much. I feel I have improved since Montella has arrived.
“Lapadula [who scored Milan’s third goal]? I can play well also with Lapa up front, it’s the boss that decides who plays. We only have to focus on doing well for the team. I want to dedicate these two goals to my wife. It was her birthday. I gave everything I had to make her happy.”
After the two goals against Chievo, Bacca will definitely be in the starting XI against Juventus, and he will hope to help the Rossoneri cause an upset and beat the Bianconeri at the Juve Stadium on Friday.
