Milan suffer Montolivo blow: Riccardo’s season is over

Update: MILAN WILL have to deal without Montolivo in the next four games as Monty has suffered a thigh injury.

Bad news for the Rossoneri as star midfielder Montolivo will be sidelined in the next weeks and will miss the rest of the current season which will decide if Milan will be in the Champions League next season or in the Europa League.

Montolivo has been one of the best players this season for Milan as he makes the difference from them from the side-midfielder or defensive-midfielder role and he’s the only real creative player among those who’re available in midfield.

El Shaarawy: “I want to stay here forever, I hope Allegri remains”
T. Silva: “Milan fans will always be in my heart”

“Tests have revealed that Riccardo Montolivo has a problem with his right biceps femoris muscle. Further tests will be carried out to determine the extent of the problem,” Milan confirmed through an official statement on their website today. La Gazzetta dello Sport initially reported he’ll be out for 2 games but the player will miss all the next four games (Update).

Massimiliano Allegri could decide to place Sulley Muntari in the DMF role and perhaps move Kevin-Prince Boateng back to midfield. Luca Antonini and Christian Abbiati trained normally today and are fit for the Torino game, like Giampaolo Pazzini.

  1. That’d be interesting.

If we need a creative mid, and Cristante so predictable to be 1st team player next year, then he should be on the bench in those 2 matches (at least).

A beautiful scenario granted Milan win all the remaining 4 games. Napoli lose to Inter and the difference back to four points, they draw Bologna and it’s a 2 point difference, they win against Siena and on the final match day, Napoli lose to Roma and Milan clinch second.

  3. Never thought I’d say this a year ago but he’s our most important player! Finishing 3rd will be really tough when you think of the unbelievable lack of quality in midfield.

  4. I tink diz is d chance of us seeing anoda midfield lineup.I would luv 2 c Cristante,or play Kevin Constant at left midfield,Muntari at defending midfield & Boateng at right midfield, wishin u quick recovery Monty.

  5. Its quite obvious that without Montolivo in mid-field we possess 0% creativity…I’m anxiously waiting to see how Allegri will handle this

  6. Bad news indeed. the next two games are not that though anyway. How abt this guys for next season?

    Ogbonna Salomon
    Abate De Sciglio

    Verratti Christante

    Niang El sharaawy

  7. flamini – boateng – nocerino … Neutral
    flamini-muntary-ambrosini … Defencive
    Flamini- boateng-constant … All out
    Flamini-muntary-boateng… Perfect

  8. Bad news indeed i just hate news like this. @harkym u are onpoint man, that is the best midfield lineup we have for now. On behalf of the milano army i wish u (MONTOLIVO) a quick recovery. May God help us all. Forza milano

  9. I think for these two games, we could do without Monto. If Prince is back in midfield as he can spark life into attacks with his running. Although I would like to see Cristante being given a go, if given the opportunity.
This is a vital stage of the season and we can not afford any slip-ups. No matter who plays or who doesn’t play, what matters is us getting the three points and gaining CL-qualification!

  10. Bad news!!!

Im really scared about Allegri… maybe he will start something terrible like muntari – traore – flamini, or muntari – flamini – nocerino… with boateng on the wing…

  11. Hello fellow milano soldier’s, how u guys doing?. Much repect to you all. @kuchini it’s been a long time bro am realy missing u in this blog, God bless u where ever u are. Grande milano

  12. guys, let’s stop mentioning the ‘ k’ word pls. Everyone is happy allegri’s leaving, don’t spoil that.

  13. Welcome back luca, we really miss u. I wish our next captain, Montolivo quick recovesy cos we nid u .forza monty, forza milano

  14. Can someone pls tell Galliani to raid Madrid this summer? Expecting some shake up there.. Heard Coentrao is surplus to requirement, he will be a worthy signing for our Left fullback. The best option in midfield without Montolivo is:Boateng…Muntari…Flamini. Both Pazzini and Balotelli should start alongside El Shaarawy.

  15. @Nima, hahaha. Are u a Ghanaiana? They practice this kind of calculation when Ghana is not likely to qualify from a certain stage in a competition. However, as a true Milanista, napoli will NOT be 3rd. Please lets hold unto the 3rd.

  16. Abbiati Or Gabriel/amelia if he’s still injured
    Abate Zapata Mexes De Sciglio
    Flamini Boateng
    Robinho Pazzini El Shaarawy

Robinho could be switched with Niang, does not really matters but I just want to see more of roby before he leaves. Not a big fan of him but I like his personality, such a good guy. besides, he knows how to assist.

I think this line up would be the best seeing the fact that last match when pazzini came on as a false nine he scored a brace. This gives us much more creativity. and the midfield is pretty solid. not as much defensive as usual. but creative. Boateng is a great player when he’s on fire, u can’t deny that. He’s our most creative midfielder after montolivo.

And Flamini has been on a pretty good form recently. He could be in good use. But I hope he doesn’t scores again (at least not the first goal), seeing the fact we always concedes after a flamini goal.

Then we can always bring in cristante, I think he’ll be great! and maybe even earn the trust to start the next game and bench robinho/Niang so boateng could go back to his right flank( been pretty good there recently)
