THIAGO SILVA is very pleased with Milan’s performance against Arsenal but already looks forward.

The Rossoneri hosted Arsenal at Stadio San Siro on Wednesday night and there was only one team on the pitch. Milan annihilated Arsene Wenger’s men and now have a very big advantage for the return leg.

Milan excelled in the attack with Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Robinho in top form as well as Kevin-Prince Boateng who returned from injury, but Massimiliano Allegri’s defense line neutralised Van Persie and co.

“At the end of the game to make these important and useful tackles is great,” Brazilian defender Thiago Silva told the Milan channel after the comprehensive 4-0 victory over the North London side. “It’s great to help the team. We played like the coach showed us. The week has been perfect and the game was as well.

“We played well but the return is a different game and we’ll look to win there as well. It’s possible to put these emotions behind you and focus on the league and that’s what we have to do. We showed that is we play together we’ll win. But we have to put this result to one side because it won’t be easy at Cesena.” Milan are currently top of the league, +1 over Juventus who drew Parma on Wednesday to make it a perfect day.

Thiago’s partner in defense Philippe Mexes who didn’t look good in Milan’s 1-2 win over Udinese on Saturday but had a brilliant game against Arsenal, is also happy with the result but says it’s not yet over.

“Everything gets easier when the team plays like this. We have to keep on going like this as we have the chance to do great things. 4-0 at home is great but we have to stay focused that’s the only way to do it. I’ll do all I can to repay the faith shown in me,” the Frenchman said in an interview with Milan Channel last night.

“I didn’t expect such as big result, but for how we prepared for the game, we knew that we could get a result. We did well to play high up the field and not to let them play. The whole team did well. History shows us that we have to go there and play the same game that we played on Wednesday,” added left-back Luca Antonini who had a very decent game, taking on quick wingers like Walcott & Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

“We’re not so interested in Juventus’ game (with Parma), we were focused on the Champions League and now we’ll turn to the league. We have to go one game at a time. Cesena are a tough team at home and we’ll have to be good to get ahead as we’ve played a lot lately. The President [Mr. Silvio Berlusconi] is right and we all know it. We’re on course for three trophies and we have the obligation to try and win all three.”

Milan play again on Sunday noon at Stadio Dino Manuzzi against Cesena (kick off time 15:00 CET).
